Blue Mozart is a blues band with a difference. Barrelhouse blues was the heavy metal experience of its time. It was relegated to the backwoods and cat houses of the 40s and 50s. It was here that Elvis Priestly and Jerry Lee Lewis discovered it and brought it into the mainstream of popular music. In the 1960s and 70s it was rediscovered. Now in 2008 “Blue Mozart” gives it new life. Blue Mozart plays Muddy Water, Howling Wolf, Elmore James, Robert Johnson, and others with the energy it deserves. This isn’t your fathers blues, this is your grandfathers blues (if granddad had a few hundred watts of power and an electric guitar) We also cover the Stones, Cream, ZZ top’s versions of these classics. |

NEW and Improved GIG Input Form |
|
Saturday, 20 October 2007 |
New and Improved GIG input form is now available! This new input form has a lot of pull down menus that make for faster entry. If you band is not listed or the Venue, you can still add the event and I will add your band and venue to the pull down for future use. There is a security code that needs to be entered to help eliminate false entries for me. Thanks for your continued support of NY Blues Bands. |

Nite Train's New CD "Best Man" was just given High Marks in the Capital District Press: Excerpt from: 9/27/2007 Albany Times Union (Preview section) "The Nite Train Band with the High Voltage Horns celebrates the release of "Best Man," their rollicking new collection of 10 original tunes that should have the dance floor hopping all night long. Led by the band's Songwriters bassist-vocalist Ken Briggs and keyboardist-saxman Marcus Benoit, Nite Train has been cranking out hot blues sounds since 2003, but they took it to a new level last year with the addition of a howling horn section. The proof is on the rip-snorting disc, which was recorded at Greg "Captain Squeeze" Speck's Stonewall Studios in Rensselaerville. This is jumping stuff -- the kind of blues that definitely won't give you the blues. Party on!" - Greg Haymes - Albany Times Union |
